We go to the annual Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) to keep our fingers on the pulse of what’s happening in our industry and to help assure that we can present to our clients the latest and greatest products and solutions for their kitchen and bath projects. There are more than 600 head-turning exhibits of everything you could possibly imagine for your kitchen or bath. Here’s what we saw trending at this year’s KBIS.
Cleanliness: A number of manufacturers are producing products that help keep your kitchen in pristine condition. Antimicrobial paint by Sherwin Williams, hands-free faucets that help deter the transfer of germs while cooking and cleaning and self-cleaning showerheads prove you can have an immaculate kitchen and bath without compromising style or beauty.
Health and well being: Many appliance manufacturers were showcasing steam ovens that make healthy cooking easy and quick. We saw commercial water filtration systems now designed for the home to provide healthy water for cooking and for drinking and new kitchen faucets with built in filtration systems.
Smart design: Manufacturers are producing products that eliminate clutter and are easier to use. Hafele showcased a dog feed area with a toe-touch opening. Another really cool innovation was Masterbrand’s hidden knife block and storage cabinet. These provide the clean countertop appearance that many of our clients crave. Appliances are becoming smarter too. Dacor offers ranges with a built in Android that allows you to program start times and automatically text family members when meals are ready.
Evolution of tile: Artisan tile stood out with an almost unlimited array of colors and textures, including copper that changes as it ages.
Concrete comes of age: Concrete is being used in new and innovative ways in both raw and unfinished forms as backsplash, countertops, wall tile and even concrete tubs.
Finishes: Matte black and black stainless inspired by matte black car finishes are hot trends. Matte, champagne gold and pewter in a new and modern approach were top faucet finish trends.
We would love to talk to you about other trends from KBIS and how you can take advantage of them for your next project. Stop in or give us a call 630-214-9775
